In a prepaid smart electric meter, electricity is off once the pre-paid amount is exhausted, much like a pre-paid mobile
number. An alert is sent to the consumer when the balance is low, prompting him/her to recharge the meter, which can be done either automatically or manually.
Please take note that the prepaid meters of Mr Sekerheid Prepaid are sub-prepaid meters and not municipality-prepaid meters.
The following options are available if you have a municipality-prepaid meter :
Once a month there will be a bulk amount purchased for the municipality electricity prepaid meter and then must be typed in. This option is the owner's responsibility to make sure that the prepaid meter of the municipality has enough electricity for the month. As for the electricity, the tenant purchase during the month will be reimbursed after the 3rd of each month. The tenant can purchase electricity for the sub-prepaid meter by any EasyPay outlet or any third-party vendor.
2. Blocked option for municipality prepaid meters:
On this option the tenants can only purchase electricity for the sub-prepaid meter from our offices, they will receive a token number for the sub-prepaid meter as well as a token for the municipality prepaid meter. On this option, the owner does not take on the responsibility for the municipality prepaid meter to have electricity on the whole time. Please also take note that on this option the tokens will only be issued after the payment reflects in the specific bank account.
We hereby suggest that option 2 is chosen, the reason being that if the tenant does not purchase electricity there will not be electricity on the prepaid meters. Herewith the tenant takes the responsibility to pay for his own electricity usage. We also have the following options available:
1. Meter readings:
Where the municipality water meter gets taken each month and send to the relevant departments at the municipality, as well as the e-Tshwane portal capturing. See the application for meter readings.
2. Full management option:
On this option, the tenants will receive an invoice for each month according to their usage of water. The owner will receive a monthly invoice for the property rates etc. Please see the application for the full management option.
